Gody Professional Series #8 - JátékEXPO

2006 has started and the next GPS event is coming.

The first stop this year will be held in Budapest. The biggest speciality of this event will be, that beside of the usual Counter-Strike competition, a Battlefield 2 and a JetFly competiton will be also held in the same hall. We also organise the usual outdoor activities in hope of the good weather and lots of other games for the visitors too.

This time 48 teams can attend on the competition, held on the weeekend of 27-28th of May.

Since the event is on Childrens day, the visitors have not to pay entry price.

The GPS Team will welcome all players and visitors on the 8th event.

Gody Professional Series #7 - Invexcup

After beeing contacted by the Czech organisators from InvexCup, we organised a qualifier in Budapest in the Károlyi palace. The beuautiful palace was a good background for the players and visitors feelings. This was the first compo LAN for the Organisator Team, but it hasn't changed the feeling and the good competition.

Notwithstanding the bad weather the mood of everyone was really good, the visitors could follow the matches on 2 big screens, and in the breakes you could entertain yourself by the sponsor stands and the X-Boxs.

The first price was the trip to Brno for the big finals, where the winner team could play against the players of other qualifiquations countrys.

The hole saturday you could listen to different discourses about internet and cyber sports, the presenters has also answered the questions of the audience.

The usual internet, shoutcast and video coverage was transmitted this time too.

Gody Professional Series #6

The GPS Events are held since 2003 every 3 month in Hungary, and it became one of the biggest Lan Series in Eastern Europe during the last 2 years. This Summer can both hungarian and foreign teams check in to the 6th Event's competiton. After a successfully organized ESWC National Preliminary, this time a "conventional" BYOC LAN is in the making.

During competition 64 Counter-Strike teams can fight against each other, on the first weekend from august (2005. 08. 05-07.) in a big basketball hall in Szolnok (Hungary). The entry price for players is 20 Euro (5.000Ft), so for a team 100 Euro, for this money you can spend 3 days on an unforgettable summer event. The spectator tickets cost for one day 4 Euro (1.000 Ft), for 3 days 6 Euro (1.500 Ft), so you can bring your friends and familiars whit you. The prize is 3.000 Euro (750.000 Ft) for the hole competition, plus material wins.

The matches are held from Friday evening until Sunday noon. You can check the quarter possibilities on the eventsite, or you can wright on the e-mail adresses below, the players can also sleep at place on the spectator's terrace or on gymnastic sponges in small rooms.

The teams attending to the competiton can spend also time with other activities, like outdoor programs (beer tent, small competitions, watch HLTV on bigscreen television), X-Boxes, CS:S mini competition (only for hungarian teams). You can watch the important matches on bigscreen televisions (Plasma TV) at place (in front of the stage), those who stayed home can watch the coverage including several HLTVs, Shoutcast (mostly in hungarian) and online at the event site.

Gody Professional Series #5 ESWC

The GPS⁵/ESWC has perfectly kept the character of all the GPS Events none the less it was a National Preliminary from Electronic Sports World Cup 2005.

On this Event we united the old location – Olajcsarnok in Szolnok - whit the outdoor buffet and activities that we organized on GPS³. This event offered many interesting programms indoor and outdoor, during the competition and for the spectators aswell.

The visitors could follow the event at the location on 12 Plasma TVs and 2 projectors, the online coverage contained HLTVs, Shoutcast and this time also a live videostream.

The participants could buy hardware materials at place for lower costs, and at the new well succeded programm the lottery the gambler could win lost of very precious prizes.

Gody Professional Series BroodWar

This year the Gody Professional Series has launched a new series of events for fans of the StarCraft: BroodWar strategy computer game. The first GPS BroodWar event took place in Budapest co-organized with the HÖK of Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Lóránd University. The competition was announced for 96 players in two leagues: 48 for GPS BroodWar Professional League and 48 for ELTE IK HÖK University League. The location of the competition was in a tested, well-equipped computer lab with 120 machines in the southern building of ELTE in lágymányos.

With the help of our sponsors and partners, we were able to provide high value awards to our medalists as well as suitable computers and opportunity for dining to all of the players.

Similarly to the previous events the competition could be followed on various ways. The results were on-line updated at www.replays.hu and there was Internet broadcasting available for the enquieres. On the spot the most exciting games were projected to the delight of the audience.

The competition ran according to the usual way of GPS events: groupmatches, double elimination, higher- and lowerbrackets and the final.

Gody Professional Series #4

After the great success of GPS3, everybody was excited about the next event, GPS4. The competiton was advertised for 48 Counter-Strike teams and 16 Call fo Duty teams. Unfortunately the Call of Duty competiton was cancelled in lack of interest, finally 64 Conter-Strike team could have competed with each other. The ideal place for the copetition held in winter was the Olajcsarnok in Tiszaliget. All of the teams could have competed in one airspace in good spirit.

With the help of our sponsors we were able to build a great number of servers and gigabit-ethernet based network. The switches and the servers were ensured by SMC and the servers were ensured by Users for every team and for the attendant technique. The event’s greatest and most successful innovation were the 10 plazma TVs, for the spectators to follow the players who were playing on the stage.

The event just as the others, could have been easily followed in several ways through the internet by the inquirlingly, beside immediately freshened results, daily overalls, reports and movies, HLTV and ShoutCast commentaries were to entertain the public.

At the location beside the plazma TVs , beamers were there to follow the most exciting matches. The liquidation was the same as so far: team matches, shootout, Double Elimination. Clans who were fallen out in the secound shootout could continue playing in the straight fall out loser's bracket.

Gody Professional Series #3

After the great success of GPL2, the next step was the GPL3 announced for 64 teams. The high number of teams made us find a new place, which was the Sports Hall in Tiszaliget, Szolnok. All the teams could compete in one space, in the arena, which gave us a spectacular view.

The stormy success of the opening ceremony was created by the varied programs and the less exaggerated speeches.

Just like before, spectators could see the events via Internet, and they could enjoy the most exciting matches as there were screens on the spot, too.

The arrangement was the same as before: team matches, shootout, Double Elimination. It was a new feature that the teams who fell out at the shootout could continue playing in an direct drop-out "vígaszág".

Gody Professional Lan #2

After the first good-echoed GPL the next event was organized between April 9-11, 2004, at the Sipos Orbán Secondary School, Szolnok. The preliminary entries almost ended up in chaos as the places were filled in a few minutes, but the GPL² capacity grew from 32 to 48 clans.

The competition started with 8 groups, with 6 teams in each group. It was followed by the fall out round and shootout round. The finals were carried out in the well-known Double Elimination system.

Beside the competition a lot of other entertaining and surprise programs were held to make the weekend spent in Szolnok even more colorful. They had fireworks, motor and car stuntman show, and as guests the best skilled players of the Austrian national counter-strike team also appeared at the event, and they played gala matches with the Hungarian frontline teams.

Besides the high quality arrangement, some excellent ideas made the competition more enjoyable for competitors and spectators alike.

The competition started in 4 groups, the first four in each group got to the final, which was organized in Double Elimination system. The matches could be followed through HLTV and on ShoutCast commentary with a commentator.
